Great Blue Herons
February 27th & 28th 2010
On Feb 27th and 28th we found the Great Blue Herons heronry well established very early in the season. The weather is very spring-like and the Great Blue Herons are quite aware that it is mild and their colony is in full swing. We found a couple of very young birds that were chicks from last year among their elders, as well as several new nests being built to replace the nests destroyed from winter’s winds.
