Sardis Park
April 9th to 13th 2010

We like to take a second walk when the weather is good at this time of year because of the migrating warblers, so we stop in at Sardis Park because it has a nice selection of birds and an easy walk around the pond.

We found more Bush Tits collecting materials for nests.

American Coots standing in shallow water.

Downy Woodpeckers were climbing trees.

There were still a few Cackling Geese visiting.

The Pied-billed Grebes were enjoying the better weather.

The Killdeer are starting to look for a nesting place.

Ruby-crowned Kinglets were bouncing around in the shady parts of the trees.

The trees are sporting beautiful new leaves.

The Lesser Scaups are still visiting the pond and are looking rather sharp.

A large flock of Northern Shovelers were vocalizing to each other spread out over the pond. Some of them would get into little altercations but generally they were peaceful with each other.

A Green-winged Teal paddled past us on his way to the other side.

There are a lot of Turtles at Sardis pond; we found many Red-eared Sliders and Painted Turtles over the last week.

Yellow-rumped Warblers were seen on every walk.

American Wigeon were also found on every walk.
