Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve
August 9th to 15th 2010

We have had another few hot, dry days and lovely early morning walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve, Chilliwack, B.C., Canada.

An early morning Butterfly was a nice surprise.

Black-capped Chickadees were happily foraging the shrubs and trees with several different flocks of warblers.

A few Wilson’s Warblers were fun to try to photograph while they hopped, bounced and flitted through the leaves.

Common Yellowthroat Warblers joined in the fun.

A Few Yellow Warblers were also present in the flock of warblers.

Along with the Warblers was one lovely Red-eyed Vireo high up in the trees.

A few Wood Ducks were seen paddling in the lagoons.

Mallards were seen as well; these two were happy in the morning sun.

A few more migrating Sandpipers danced and marched their way along some logs.

Flycatchers checked out the branches and air around them for insects.

Great Blue Herons were seen every day.

A Peregrine Falcon paused on a high snag.

A small flock of juvenile Cedar Waxwings browsed through a Hawthorn for something to eat.

We stopped in at the Rotary Interpretive Centre for visits with Tony, Ivy, Val, Dylan, Janet, Mike, Jean, Muriel, Alice, Leona and Gordon. It is always fun to stop every day to take a moment to find out the latest sightings from others and have a chat with these wonderful people.
