March, 2016

March 3, 2016

We enjoyed our usual walk this morning at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve.

A female Downy Woodpecker went about her daily search for food.

Gadwalls were seen in the slough near the Heronry.

A Bufflehead female was seen in the north lagoon near the Rotary Interpretive Centre.

Pied-billed Grebes were seen as well, the rain bouncing up from the water shows how heavy the temporary downpour became.

Golden-crowned Sparrows were seen in Blackberries.

A male Hooded Merganser was seen in the slough near the Heronry.

A male and a female American Kestrel was seen on our way to the Heronry.

Mallards were seen in several locations.

Wood Ducks were seen in good numbers.
