We enjoyed our walks over the last three days at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, B.C., Canada.
Beavers were busy in the water eating and pulling water plants to their lodge. One Beaver was pushing mud onto the edge of the shore and posed with its paw print in some mud on the shore.
A Bewick’s Wren, in moult, was hopping around some shrubs at the far end of the road past the Heronry.
Nearby, an Orange-crowned Warbler was hopping around in a little tree.
The Osprey family was seen at the nest.
Two River Otters were fishing near he Heronry.
Black-headed Grosbeaks were seen in a few areas.
Great Blue Herons were seen in the slough.
A Belted Kingfisher was seen near the Heronry.
A little Mink had something to take home to its kits.
A Common Yellowthroat peeked at us from the safety of some Yarrow plants.
Snowberry are ripening.
A few Damselflies were seen in many areas.
A Red-breasted Sapsucker was seen in the dead tree near the gate to the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve.
An Olive-sided Flycatcher was also seen in the same tree.
An Eastern Kingbird joined the group in the dead tree.
Nearby a Willow Flycatcher was in the shrubs.
Red-eyed Vireos were seen as well.
Warbling Vireos were also in the same area near the lower parking lot.

We enjoyed seeing Charlie with Jack, Terry with Bogey, Dean, Alyson and Randy with Chesney, Jenny with Oscar, Ann, Karen, Janet P. doing a bird count for the Great Blue Heron Nature Society, Tanya and Rick, Werner, Sandra with Izzy, Brenda and Dave with Finnegan , as well as John Larsen.
When we were delivering the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve 2017 Calendars to Val in the Rotary Interpretive Centre Gift Shop, we said farewell to Janet Hutchinson leaving her post as Director of the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve Society, we will miss her and wish her the best of everything in her new post. We also had nice chats with Eli, Val, Karen, Camille, Billie, Zack and Janet H. while we were there.
