May 26th & 27th 2018

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

Male Red-winged Blackbirds were looking particularly stunning while serenading the females.

Female Common Merganser females are still waiting for ducklings.

The Heronry and Marsh resident Bald Eagles were all present and accounted for today. The Heronry Bald Eagles were feeding their chick.

Great Blue Herons chicks are growing rapidly.

A Northern Flicker stopped for a moment.

American Goldfinch were seen near the Rotary Interpretive Centre.

House Finches and House Sparrows were seen nearby.

A Pied-billed Grebe was seen in the slough.

An Anna’s Hummingbird enjoyed the nectar of a Foxglove before resting on a tiny stick.

A female Mallard had a large brood of ducklings enjoying a moment of play in some lily pads. After playtime, she took them to the edge of the water and put them under her wings for naptime.
