April, 2015

April 5th & 6th 2015

It was a beautiful day for a walk at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack.

We watched the Bald Eagles on their nests.

Golden-crowned Sparrows were seen along the way.

The Canada Goose was sleeping on her nest.

Great Blue Herons were active at the Heronry.

A tiny Rufous Hummingbird was seen stretching high above us on a mossy branch.

A Ruby-crowned Kinglet stopped bouncing for one second.

Mallards lined up on a log, their colours glistening in the sun.

A Pine Siskin was seen near the feeders at the Rotary Interpretive Centre.

Song Sparrows are easy to find with their lovely songs floating through the spring air.

Northern Rough-winged Swallows were seen on overhead wires near the parking lot.

A White-crowned Sparrow drew our attention to it when it started singing.

There are many Common Yellowthroats starting nests along the fence line across from the Heronry.

We enjoyed chatting with Denise with Summer, Pat with Maggie, Helmi doing some photography, Susan from Olympia, Brenda with Finnegan, Sandra with Izzy, Bill and Jenny, Ruth and Don with Chico on the trails and waved to Helmut working as we drove by.
