April 10th to 13th 2015

We enjoyed our walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack over the last four days.

Buffleheads are still seen on both lagoons.

Bushtits were seen in the Salwein Creek forest.

Black-capped Chickadees were seen in many locations.

There were a large number of Common Mergansers seen.

A Coyote ran across the farm field in the distance and stopped briefly to look our way before heading off into the forest.

Northwestern Crows were seen in the slough near the Heronry.

Eurasian-collared Doves were seen near the parking lot.

Golden-crowned Sparrows were seen during our walks.

The Canada Goose is still on its nest.

Ring-necked Ducks were seen in a few spots.

American Robins were seen as usual.

Red-winged Blackbird were seen as usual.

A Savannah Sparrow was seen near the farm fence.

Song Sparrows are nesting in the blackberries along the farm fence.

Tree and Violet-green Swallows were seen at the far end of the road past the Heronry.

Green-winged Teal were still performing for mates.

Thimbleberries are blooming now.

Spotted Towhees were seen.

White-crowned Sparrows were seen as well.

Wood Ducks were seen in quite a few locations.

Lesser Yellowlegs were seen in the farm field puddles.

Common Yellowthroats are defending nesting sites all along the farm field fence in the blackberries and grasses.

We enjoyed seeing Ruth and Don with Chico, Sandra with Izzy, Werner, Brenda with Finnegan, Casey with ula, Pat with Maggie, Denise with Summer and Rich and Dolly on the trails.
