June, 2008

June 2, 2008

We had to do some shopping this morning and stop at Integrity Computers at the Chilliwack Mall, after a visit with Daniel there we headed home. After brunch, we headed to the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve for a very quick walk around the Salwein Creek Loop.

Wood Ducks were paddling and dabbling behind the East Bird Blind.

A Great Blue Heron was also busy fishing behind the East Bird Blind.

Cedar Waxwings were passing insects and berries back and forth in courtship along the pathways.

We think this is an Olive-sided Flycatcher, the light was so bad that it is hard to see his characteristics.

We saw a strange little Flycatcher that we cannot identify. It has the big white spot on both sides of its body, symmetrically placed. If anyone can identify it for us please contact us, we would really appreciate it.

And, last but not least, as we were about to leave a beautiful Green Heron flew onto a branch of a dead tree and then flew further away onto a fallen tree over hanging the lagoon, where it spent quite awhile preening and relaxing.

The Iris blooming on the edge of the lagoon reflected in the mirror like water.

We stopped at the Rotary Interpretive Centre and told Gord and a few visitors about the Green Heron before heading home to warm up after our cool walk.
