July 29th to 31st 2016

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, B.C., Canada.

There was a Beaver grooming itself and enjoying grazing in the grass at the edge of the slough before its bedtime.

An Anna’s Hummingbird was seen at the far end of the road past the Heronry.

Two Coyotes were seen in the farm field across from the Heronry.

At least two Downy Woodpeckers were seen.

The little Common Merganser was sleeping on a log one morning.

A Northern Flicker was in a Red Osier Dogwood.

The little Willow Flycatcher was in its territory.

A juvenile Pied-billed Grebe was at the East Bird Blind.

A Green Heron was seen across from the Rotary Interpretive Centre.

A Great Blue Heron was fishing in the inlet near the Rotary Interpretive Centre.

Belted Kingfishers were seen in a few spots.

The Osprey family were busy as usual.

A Red Admiral butterfly sipped nectar from a Buddleia and opened its wings on a Blackberry leaf.

A few juvenile American Robins are usually seen at this time of year.

A Spotted Sandpiper was on a log at the East Bird Blind.

A Spotted Towhee was seen on a Blackberry and Tansy.

Wood Ducks usually gather in the slough at the far end of the road past the Heronry.

A little Savannah Sparrow was on the fence at the Lickman Dike Road.

We enjoyed seeing Charlie with Jack, Terry with Bogey, Deb K., Ed K., Lori riding pretty Deja, Dean, Janet P., Alyson with Chesney and waved to Helmut while we were out.
