August 30th & 31st 2016

We always find something of interest during our walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, B.C., Canada.

Beavers were seen swimming home for bed.

Several Black-throated Gray Warblers were seen in the shrubs near the Main Bridge.

A Golden-crowned Sparrow was seen in a Blackberry shrub.

A Cooper’s Hawk was seen along the way past the Heronry.

A Northern Flicker was checking out a snag for insects.

An Anna’s Hummingbird was sunning itself near the gate.

Lincoln’s Sparrows were seen both days.

The Ospreys are doing well.

American Robins were seen in large numbers.

Savannah Sparrows were seen in a few areas.

A female Western Tanager perched in a tree near the gate.

A few flocks of Warbling Vireos were found.

A few juvenile Cedar Waxwings were seen.

Common Yellowthroats were seen in Tansy.

A Great Blue Heron caught a Bullfrog in the shallows of the slough near the Heronry.

We enjoyed seeing Charlie with Jack, Terry with Bogey, Don with Chico, Alyson with Chesney, Penny and Dennis with Sunny and Suka, Zdenek and Denise, Johanna and Rick, Leona, Kurt with Virgil, as well as Werner on the trails. We stopped in at the Rotary Interpretive Centre Gift Shop where we had a nice visit with Val and Barb.
