May 28th & 29th 2018

We enjoyed our usual walks at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada.

Beautiful male Red-winged Blackbirds posed for photos.

A female Common Merganser watched a female Mallard with ducklings.

The Heronry resident Bald Eagle posed for portraits today.

A Northern Flicker was seen in front of the Heronry.

The Great Blue Heron chic were exercising and interacting when we walked by.

An American Kestrel was seen in the distance.

Quite a few female Mallards have good sized broods of ducklings to watch over.

A Pileated Woodpecker checked out a snag for a quick meal.

Tiny Cottontail Rabbit kits were seen along the way. They have no fear of people yet.

Savannah Sparrows were seen near the far marsh.

Cedar Waxwings were seen in a few areas, some were enjoying Twinberries.

One female Wood Duck was exiting her nest while another had her ducklings tucked under her wings.

At the Lickman Dike Road, Savannah Sparrows were using fence posts for perches.

The little Anna’s Hummingbird was still watching over it territory.

We enjoyed seeing Charlie with Jack, Terry with Bogey, Michelle with Lacy, Werner and Leona, Randy and Jim with Chesney, Denise with Summer, Frank and David, Anna and Chase with Halley, Helmut, Tanya and Rick with Salem on the trails and the talented artist John LeFlock getting ready to teach an art session in the Discovery Centre.
